Selina McGonagle
– Director of Learning & Access
Selina is responsible for the strategic development of Northern
Ballet Theatre’s education work both locally and nationally,
on tour. She is particularly committed to developing opportunities
for those people who wouldn’t normally watch dance or
have the chance to dance, especially young people and those
with disabilities.
If you would like to discuss the possibility
of your school / community group in a project or partnership
with Northern Ballet Theatre please contact Selina.
Caroline Burn – Dance
Education Officer
Caroline is responsible for our education work on tour - teaching
workshops in schools, venues and other community settings.
She also plans projects in partnership with organisations
such as dance agencies, theatres, schools and colleges. Caroline
is involved in delivering workshops and taster sessions for
those with visual impairments and has a BSL qualification,
and also teaches the majority of our Teacher Inset sessions.

Sophie Alder - Dance Education
Officer (West Yorkshire)
Sophie is responsible for all our education work in West Yorkshire
– teaching workshops in schools, venues and other community
settings. She also teaches our Youth Dance classes on a Wednesday
evening.

Jo Dean - Learning and Access
Co-ordinator
Jo co-ordinates all the public Learning and Access events
at venues on tour such as Ballet Explored, Open workshops,
Pre-performance talks, Audio-described performances and Family
Fun workshops. She also takes all the bookings for school
workshops dealing with the paperwork.
Jo administers
the Youth Dance – 100% and Ignite - classes. She will
take calls and emails
from parents and young people with regards to lateness, sickness
and other absences and any enquiries about the classes.

Andy Barker – Dance Education
Officer in training
As a result of the Jane Attenborough Dance in Education Fellowship
that NBT received in June 2006, company dancer Andy Barker
(dancing
as Andrew Davidson) will be increasingly
joining the Learning and Access activities over a two year
period. He will join Sophie and Caroline in leading workshops
in schools, venues and other community settings.
