Selina McGonagle – Director of Learning & Access
Selina is responsible for the strategic development of Northern Ballet Theatre’s education work both locally and nationally, on tour. She is particularly committed to developing opportunities for those people who wouldn’t normally watch dance or have the chance to dance, especially young people and those with disabilities.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of your school / community group in a project or partnership with Northern Ballet Theatre please contact Selina.

Caroline Burn – Dance Education Officer
Caroline is responsible for our education work on tour - teaching workshops in schools, venues and other community settings. She also plans projects in partnership with organisations such as dance agencies, theatres, schools and colleges. Caroline is involved in delivering workshops and taster sessions for those with visual impairments and has a BSL qualification, and also teaches the majority of our Teacher Inset sessions.

Contact Caroline for information about our work on tour, Teacher Inset sessions and work with the visually impaired community.

Sophie Alder - Dance Education Officer (West Yorkshire)
Sophie is responsible for all our education work in West Yorkshire – teaching workshops in schools, venues and other community settings. She also teaches our Youth Dance classes on a Wednesday evening.

Contact Sophie for information about our work with communities and schools in Leeds and West Yorkshire.

Jo Dean - Learning and Access Co-ordinator
Jo co-ordinates all the public Learning and Access events at venues on tour such as Ballet Explored, Open workshops, Pre-performance talks, Audio-described performances and Family Fun workshops. She also takes all the bookings for school workshops dealing with the paperwork.

Jo administers the Youth Dance – 100% and Ignite - classes. She will take calls and emails from parents and young people with regards to lateness, sickness and other absences and any enquiries about the classes.

As a first point of contact for general enquiries or to book a workshop please contact Jo.

Andy Barker – Dance Education Officer in training
As a result of the Jane Attenborough Dance in Education Fellowship that NBT received in June 2006, company dancer Andy Barker (dancing as Andrew Davidson) will be increasingly joining the Learning and Access activities over a two year period. He will join Sophie and Caroline in leading workshops in schools, venues and other community settings.
